Insights that shape strategy, policy and impact

What is TeacherVoice Insights?

TeacherVoice Insights (TVI) is an Ubuntu Education product that gathers structured insight directly from teachers across Africa.

Through regular polls, surveys, and targeted engagement, TVI captures teachers’ perspectives on the realities of teaching and learning, helping organisations better understand the challenges, trends, and opportunities shaping education across the continent.

TVI exists because teachers are central to education systems, yet their voices are often missing from the decisions that shape policy, programmes, and products. By translating teacher voice into actionable insight, TVI helps organisations make more informed, responsive, and effective decisions.

What we do

We design and deliver teacher insight and research processes that help organisations understand education from the classroom perspective.

Our work includes:

  • Weekly thematic teacher polls
  • Quarterly surveys and insight gathering
  • Bespoke surveys for strategic partners
  • Teacher focus groups and discussions
  • Product and programme testing
  • Data analysis and interpretation
  • Insight reports and strategic briefings

Using Ubuntu Education’s growing teacher network, we gather both real-time perspectives and deeper contextual insight across different countries, school settings, and teacher types.

Our outputs range from concise summary reports to detailed analytical insights that help organisations strengthen strategy, improve services, and better respond to the realities teachers face.

Who is TVI for?

TVI is designed for organisations that want to better understand teachers and make stronger education decisions.

This includes:

  • EdTech companies
  • NGOs and nonprofits
  • Foundations and funders
  • Governments and policymakers
  • Curriculum and assessment providers
  • Research and innovation teams

TVI is a ‘pulse-check’ subscription. If you are an organisation seeking to keep up to date with what teachers are thinking and saying, then this subscription is for you.

Who is TVI not for?

TVI is designed for organisations that genuinely want to learn from teachers and use their insight to shape better decisions. We are probably not the right fit if you are simply looking for quick validation, generic data, or a checkbox consultation exercise.

Our approach is built around meaningful engagement with teachers in real classroom contexts, with the expectation that their feedback will inform and influence the work being done.

We believe teacher voice has the greatest value when it leads to real understanding, stronger solutions, and better outcomes.

how it works in practice

As the TVI database grows, Ubuntu Education is able to identify wider trends, surface recurring challenges, and translate teacher perspectives into evidence that can inform policy, strengthen programmes, improve products, and contribute to broader education system improvement.

Because better education systems are built when teachers are not just consulted, but genuinely heard.

Continuous teacher engagement

TVI operates as an ongoing insight-generation system built on regular engagement with teachers across Africa.

Weekly polls capture real-time perspectives on emerging issues, while quarterly surveys explore themes in greater depth to uncover patterns, trends, and differences across contexts.

Structured insight gathering

Teachers contribute through accessible and teacher-friendly surveys, polls, and discussions designed to generate meaningful qualitative insight without adding unnecessary burden.

This allows Ubuntu Education to build a growing evidence base rooted in lived classroom experience.

Actionable outputs

Insights are synthesised into:

  • One-page summary reports
  • Quarterly insight reports
  • Strategic briefings
  • Comparative analysis across themes and regions

For organisations seeking more

For organisations requiring deeper support, you may wish to explore Ubuntu’s ‘Promote’, ‘Explore’, or ‘Build’ options, designed to meet the real-time and bespoke needs of your organisation.
